Nintendo Starting a Revolution?

The announcement of the new controller for Nintendo's Revolution has created quite a buzz in various forums. It is not unlike Nintendo to do something different though. They have quite openly stated they are not following the same road that Sony and Microsoft are travelling down. I believe this will breath some new life into the same-old same-old gaming industry, but will it be a commercial success? It will be very hard to make cross-platform games for this new generation of consoles, what with the very different multiple-CPU architecture on PS3 and Xbox 360, I believe the Revolution has just one CPU, and now the different controllers. Games will be on one platform only, reducing the potential market and making returns on games a bit smaller. Considering how well the GameCube did not do in the marketplace, Nintendo will be facing an uphill battle to gain that marketshare back from Sony and Microsoft. Maybe this new controller is what they needed?
